Dr. Grossman Introduces The 10 A's

Speaker 1

Hey, how are you? This is Damaris Maria Grossman, doctor of Nursing, integrative Nurse Practitioner. So I'm talking about the 10 A's that I live by. So I didn't get straight A's in my life through my career, but I sure had a lot of grit and I learned my A's to be successful in life and to change my mindset, to be more positive and to get past the hard stuff so that I can get to the good stuff and to be able to.

Awareness and Taking Action

Speaker 1

You know, adapt mean to get in transition. So adapt in there that's one of the words. All right, so let's start with one awareness. So a lot of people can tell you that, oh, be aware. And you know that's going to then change your perspective. So awareness means that first step of understanding. You need to change, whether it's your mindset, whether it's your behavior, whether it's your weight, whether it's your friendships, whether it's your life, whether it's I don't know. You need to wake up a little earlier. Whatever that is that you're transforming. You need to understand that you got to be aware of it. Okay. So it's like okay, if I get there, be in the present moment, okay, then I got to reset. Then my next step is I have to take action Okay. So just because I'm aware doesn't mean I'm going to do shit about it, means you need to do.

Alignment and Accountability

Speaker 1

Um, I remember when I was learning about meditations and learning about things to change, I thought I it would happen. Oh, it's magically going to be attracted to me. That is partially true, but you can't get the attraction with the out. The action, okay. Like things don't just magically happen. But if you do bring that positivity and the energy and awareness, yes, things will slowly get easier and it will come in flow, but not with some actionable steps, because that's when the change happens. When you involve yourself, you change your behavior and you acknowledge the thoughts and the feelings, then you see change. I mean, it's miraculous. Trust me, as a person that came from, you know, foster home, adopted, you know not really told to change and transition in her life to then now being a doctorate of nursing, being a doctorate of nursing very well, successful and happy, and you know enjoying where I am in my present moment, and when I struggle I go back to these days. So let's check awareness, action. Now alignment how do you align yourself and be centered in your heart, your mind, in your body, so that when you align and sync your true self, that you're able to make the best decisions. Now, sometimes this doesn't always work. You know, sometimes you may feel like you're aligned but other people are pulling you in other directions. But the more centered you are and the more true you are, the more things start to flow. Now accountability that's my next one.

Acceptance and Authenticity

Speaker 1

Accountability Take actionable steps and be responsible for them. You know, say you had addiction problems. That wasn't necessarily in my cards, but I had a lot of other struggles and trauma that I had to get through. Say that addiction is for you and you're trying to get past that. Okay, be accountable for that situation. And how do you change it? How do you get to the other side? You have to accept what's happened. You have to be accountable for that. You have to make actionable steps. You got to be aware that will take us to acceptance. That's our next one. But accountability is what you made mistakes on. Don't ponder in it. Let's learn, let's figure it out, let's change.

Speaker 1

I wasn't really good at reading comprehension. I had some social Q issues. I had to figure out how to be a better student. Okay, I could cry about it. I had some trauma when I was a kid. I can cry about it or I can change it. I can make myself accountable, I can make my life better. It takes time, it takes energy, but it's worth it. So then you get acceptance. Acceptance is about being willing to accept the things you cannot change, things that are not perfect, and moving forward, changing and making change. Now, authenticity is the next A. How can you be true in all that you do? The more integrity, the more authentic you are. And being yourself a little vulnerable, more authentic. And being yourself a little vulnerable, more authentic, showing your true self and not being afraid to do that. In my 20s I may not have been as much of that, but as I slowly grew up, I realized how important it was. So the earlier you figure this out. Man, the world is like an oyster. You are going to have pearls all over and you're going to make change. I tell you this from the bottom of my heart you will make change.

Speaker 1

The next is attention. It's a similar to awareness, but in this sense, think of it as the details, the little parts of details and things you might've not, you might've missed when you were like awareness is that over, kind of broad, and the attention is attention to the details that you may need. So, for example, when I was writing up in my dissertation, I had to learn the details and the chapters and the you know, the grammar issues and be okay with like not writing well and sounding kind of horrendous and stupid and people thinking that I didn't know anything, when really I had to learn better. I had to speak papers out, I had to get editors, I had to talk things over, I had to retest, I had to relearn things, but I had to pay attention to detail and I had to make change and I did.

Speaker 1

And then I adapted to my life. I learned to overcome different environments, different situations, different traumas, different things. And I didn't just punch out, you know, I didn't just try to take something to numb it. I didn't try to pretend things didn't exist. I didn't try to, you know, I didn't just try to take something to numb it. I didn't try to pretend things didn't exist. I didn't try to, you know, change. I tried to change for the positive and adapt to things so that I can improve. Adaptability is so important.

Speaker 1

And then, after all of that, how about appreciating what you have, appreciating where you've come, like the journey to where you've come and saying, hey, I got here this time or this event I made it through. Whether it's a college thing, whether it's I, you know, saved up X amount of money. Whether it's I lost weight, whether it's I became friends with a new friend, I, you know, saved up X amount of money. Whether it's I lost weight, whether it's I became friends with a new friend, I forgave myself, I forgave friends, I was able to get past addiction. Whether I was able to transform something else in my life, I was able to save up money, I was able to get past this mental block or this mental health illness or physical ailment, or be able to manage through the pain and the suffering.

Recapping All 10 A's

Speaker 1

Getting through that and then appreciating where you are now brings you a world of abundance. And abundance is means a lot of different things. You know that's not just monetarily. It means abundance of life, of spirit, of things beyond our control, things beyond us that we cannot even imagine, and to receive it in the most positive way and, you know, reset. So those are my 10 A's for mindset shift, transformation. You know I call it the straight A's in life. When you've had A's in your life, try to see if you can have one of these A's or slowly get into your own age. So we'll reset it's awareness, action, alignment, accountability, acceptance, authenticity, attention, adaptability, appreciation and abundance. Hope you have a mindful day each and every day, god bless.
